Classic Peony Course

After 6 years of dreaming and planning, our first online course is available! If you’ve been wanting to learn how to make your own paper flowers, but physical distance has stopped you from attending an in-person workshop, I am so excited to share with you our first digital option ever: The Classic Peony. When I first started my business, my business name included the name of Indiana’s state flower, the Peony. And I thought it was only appropriate to pay homage to the beginnings of my business journey. In this online course, you will go through 13 unique steps of instructions to help you create your own paper peony from start to finish. You’ll learn how to cut petals, shape them, attach them all together, and finish off your bloom with a set of Peony leaves. The course is around 1 hour and 20 minutes and is of intermediate difficulty.

Why did I create this course? It’s been a long time coming. A lot of people had expressed interest in being able to attend a workshop, but for numerous reasons could not make that happen. Requests for an online course have been coming in for the past few years but I just hadn’t had the time to sit down and create one. The pieces just came together for me to create this course and I hope you will benefit from it.

Is this course difficult? While I did list this as an intermediate course, the Peony is a great flower for beginners! The shape and assembly of the petals is highly forgiving. It’s simply because of the sheer number of petals that this course is labeled intermediate.

Are materials hard to find? Depending where you live, materials for the course may or may not be difficult to acquire. In the PDF document, a few of my personal resources are listed. If you have crepe paper, floral wire, and glue, you can make this flower!

Why is the cost $75? I thought about the price for a long time. $75 for an online course, that doesn’t include materials? Ultimately, many hours went into creating this course. Recording video, editing video, adding text, creating a detailed list of instructions to work with the video tutorial, rendering and uploading videos, a new cost for me for a website to host my video, etc. The fact that a student can access the course as many times as they want is invaluable in itself.
